Los Angeles, June 9 (IANS): Following an early screening of "Terminator Genisys", franchise creator James Cameron has lent support to the forthcoming science fiction action film in a featurette. He finds it "pretty cool”.
“If you look at why the films became classics, they had characters that you liked. The new film, which, in my mind, I think of as the third film, we see Arnol (Schwarzenegger) take the character even farther," said Cameron, who is not involved with the film in any way, but is "a fanboy" of the movie, reports aceshowbiz.com.
Cameron loves the movie as it has a complicated yet unique plot. He admits that he likes an idea of how a protagonist character is transformed into a villain.
"The idea of taking John Connor and flipping him to the bad guy... It's pretty cool, because you got a rift against expectation. It's all about the twist," he added.
The forthcoming movie might be a pleasure somehow for Cameron because he found the two previous sequels to be terrible.
Cameron has distanced himself from the franchise since directing 1991's "Terminator 2: Judgment Day". The director was not really satisfied and even felt disappointed with the two sequels, 2003's "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" and 2009's "Terminator Salvation".
Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning to the franchise with Alan Taylor serving as the director.
"Terminator Genisys" will release on July 1.
