Kasargod, Jun 5: The violence in Bekala Mangad that occurred as an aftermath of friction between CPM and Congress activists on the night of Tuesday June 2, resumed again on Wednesday June 3.

A jeep belonging to a DYFI activist was set on fire as also a scooter parked nearby. The jeep was completely gutted and the scooter is partly damaged. The jeep belonged to Mangad Aramanga resident Sunil Kumar.

Three people including Bekala station ASI were injured in the incident on Tuesday. The police ordered a ‘lathi’ charge to control the situation. They had also sprayed 16 rounds of tear gas.

Several shops and vehicles were stoned. Though the police maintained additional security, the unpleasant incident recurred on the night of Wednesday.
