Panaji, Apr 15: Ahead of state legislative assembly elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has warned Congress to fight the polls sans their alliance, if they (congress) takes NCP casually.
"The congress should not take NCP casually and if they do so we will have no other alternative than to contest all seats in alliance, support or help with other secular forces," NCP's Goa desk incharge Gurunath Kulkarni, down in Goa to oversee election related matters, told reporters.
The NCP leader was, apparently, bitter over Congress' response to the NCP. Admitting that no formal talks on alliance has began with Congress, Kulkarni said that proposal for ten seats (out of 40) has already been submitted to the Congress party.
Recounting the 2004 assembly elections wherein Congress had lost majority following division of votes between Congress and NCP, Kulkarni said: we should not allow 2004 happenings to repeat. The division gave benefit to BJP who managed to get the power.
