Udupi: Collision of milk tanker and car - woman in car loses life

Udupi, Jun 1: After a milk tanker and Maruti Ritz car got involved with an accident opposite Reliance petrol bunk at Ambalpady on national highway 66 near here on Sunday May 31 morning, a married woman who was travelling by the car lost her life.

The deceased has been identified as Soumya Shenoy (35), wife of Radhakrishna Shenoy from Udyavar here. The impact of the accident was so severe that Soumya, who suffered grave injuries, died on the spot due to excessive bleeding. Soumya was seated in the car being driven by her husband, Radhakrishna, at the time. Radhakrishna too was injured in this accident and was hospitalized.

The car had only two this couple as its occupants. It is learnt that Radhakrishna owns a rice mill at Udyavar. While the milk tanker was moving towards Karavali Junction, the couple was going in car to attend a marriage function organized at Karkala.

A case was registered in the town police station in this respect.

    Milk tankers are always in a hurry and in the bargain sometimes cause accidents.I feel there is urgent need of speed governors in milk tankers .

    Please correct the name of the deceased lady. Its Sujatha Shenoy.

    May her soul rest in peace and may her family have the strength to bear the loss. She was a sweet person.
