Mangaluru, May 31: When the heart stops working, a human being loses life. No matter what happens to the other organs of the body, heart cannot take rest at all. It beats 72 times a minute. But a woman, whose heartbeat stopped for some moments, has emerged from it without any problems. The incident happened at KMC hospital near Jyothi circle here.
A 43-year-old unnamed woman had chest pain. When it re-appeared many times for a week she visited KMC for check-up. The cardiologist Dr Padmanabha Kamath who examined her found most of the functions of the heart normal.
ECG test said that there was nothing wrong. An angiogram test revealed that she had a blockage in a particular place of the artery. An emergency artificial artery implant was required.
However, soon after angiogram was done, her heartbeat stopped, much to everyone's shock. But the doctors did not lose heart.
Doctors who acted without any anxiety or worry managed to bring back the heartbeat to normal and restore the usual blood flow in the artery through angioplasty. For the next five days the woman was kept under special care and observation.
The woman is well now. The operation and after care were challenging for doctors. But the team headed by Dr Kamath managed the situation well.
