Los Angeles, May 30 (IANS): British model David Gandy says he's preparing to quit modelling to let the younger and "fitter" models have a chance.
The 35-year-old has been posing in his underwear for more than a decade, but admitted that he wants to "slowly fade" from modelling into designing as he thinks he is getting too old, reports femalefirst.co.uk.
"It's 14 years now I have been doing it. Yes I will be fading, I don't do as much now. I have the designing side which I will continue and I think I will slowly fade from maybe modelling my own stuff to bringing in young British models to give them a chance like I had a chance at the end of the day," Gandy said in an interview on "Chatty Man".
"And to be honest there are so many good-looking guys that deserve a chance. They are so talented. I went to my agency Select recently and the guys in there are astoundingly good looking, they are young and they are bigger than me and fitter and everything else. I have got charities and writing and there is plenty to keep me going," he added.
Gandy also revealed that he wants to move into TV and movies in the future, and spoke about why he turned down the chance to play Christian Grey in "50 Shades of Grey" -- a role that Jamie Dornan ended up taking.
"I was approached to talk to the producers and directors and I was sent the script and Jamie has done a great job with that and it took a good actor to be in that role. It was not the right film and not the right time for me," he said.
