Puttur, May 30: The body of Deviprasad (24), son of Mayilappa Godea from Tumbya in Kaimana village in the taluk was found hanging from the rod of a backhoe on Friday. Deviprasad used to work as the JCB operator for a firm, Earth Movers, located in Kadaba. The body was recovered from inside the rubber plantation belonging to Karnataka Forest Development Corporation (KFDC) at Bettodi in Aittoor village, where he was working.
Knots made of wild creepers were found around Deviprasad's neck. His body was leaning against the ground between the chains of the JCB. Based on this, Harish Gowda, brother of the deceased, expressed suspicion that this could be a murder, in a police complaint.
The JCB had been hired to dig pits in the rubber plantation owned by KFDC at Bettodi, for planting of new rubber saplings. Deviprasad had been hired to work during night shift on Thursday. When workers reached the spot on Friday morning, they were horrified to find lifeless body of the JCB operator.
Kadaba special tahsildar, Lingaiah, and Kadaba poilce sub-inspector, Yogeesh Kumar, visited the spot and made inquiries. A case was registered at Kadaba police station relating to this death.
The deceased is survived by parents and two brothers.
