Bengaluru, May 29: Inflation is the culprit behind the steep hike in fees of higher education courses in professional colleges in Karnataka.
This is the excuse and justification from State Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande for the hefty hike in fees for engineering and medical courses in professional colleges in Karnataka.
Speaking to reporters, the Higher Education Minister said the fees for professional courses was hiked taking into account 10-12 per cent inflation during the last few years.
Moreover, the fee was not hiked for the last three years, said Deshpande, who is also the minister in charge of Tourism.
He said recognition would be withdrawn if professional colleges found violated the rules and charge fee more than fixed by the State Government.
