40 yrs since last one, Mysuru gets ready for coronation Yaduveer Wodeyar

Mysuru, May 27: Mysuru seems decked out in all its finery for the coronation ceremony of Yaduveer Krishna Datta Chamaraja Wodeyar, who is the adopted son of Pramoda Devi Wodeyar. The last scion of Mysuru Srikantadatta Narsimharaja Wodeyar had his coronation nearly 40 years ago.

Srikantadatta Narsimharaja Wodeyar passed away late last year and his wife Pramoda Devi adopted Yaduveer Gopalraj Urs soon after. He was given the royal name he is now known by, after his adoption and will be crowned as the titular King of Mysuru tomorrow morning. The actual coronation or 'pattabhisheka' is scheduled to be held at around 9:30am tomorrow morning. After which Yaduveer will ascend the silver throne also called the Bhadrasana.

Yaduveer spent the eve of his coronation performing all the rituals and rites attributed to the day before the auspicious ceremony. He visited the Lakshminarayanswamy temple for prayers early in the morning and then performed pada puja to his adopted mother - Pramoda Devi and the pontiff of Sri Brahmatantra Swatantra Parakala Mutt, Srimad Abhinava Vageesha. His biological mother Tripurasundari Devi was present for all the rituals alongside his sister Jayasmika Lakshmi Devi and fiancée Trishika Kumari.

The main rituals of Navagraha Homa and Gayathri Homa in the mid- morning. The pujas that began at 9:30 in the morning, ended at 12:30pm in the afternoon. The palace is closed to visitors on Wednesday and Thursday.
