Udupi, May 27: Rajya sabha member, Oscar Fernandes at a press meet on Tuesday said that everything has changed after prime minister Indira Gandhi's rule. As per the directive principles, basic things of life are a fundamental right and Sonia Gandhi had taken the initiative.
On the topic of abolition of child labour, Fernandes said that there is no answer as to why we need abolition. No developments have been seen yet. Till now, the education system has been changing depending on the situation. He would like to mention two silicon cities namely, United States and Bengaluru.

On replying to a question from the media regarding how he would evaluate prime minister Modi's administration, on completing a year at the center, Fernandes said, "Public opinion is final. During the previous elections, farmers’ suicides were a major issue by the Bharatiya Janata party, but what about now? Has suicidal rate decreased?"
Regarding the land acquisition bill Oscar’ said, "Congress has protested the bill many times but the bill itself is a matter of shame. The central government is recovering the money by increasing the tax rate."
Jayaprakash Hegde, former MP said that Arvind Subramanian a chief economic adviser was right in saying ‘We have not achieved much.’ Referring to Badagubettu deciding to be declared as an industrial area, 80% support is needed from the public. The amended bill stated that waiting for the response was not needed. This being the case, an entrepreneur should be compensated 4 times against the actual price, but this is an indirect way of inviting foreign capital investment.
