Fr John D'Souza of Allahabad diocese passes away

Karkala, May 23: Fr John Louis D'Souza, who served parishes and as headmaster and principal of educational institutions in the diocese of Allahabad, passed away at 2 pm on Saturday May 23. He was 63.

He was the son of Cicilia D'Souza and the late John D'Souza, and brother of Dolfie (Jarigekatte, Mundkur) and Celine (Vakola, Santacruz).

Fr John was born on April 8, 1952 in Mundkur and completed his studies at Government Primary School, Mundkur, and Pompeii Higher Secondary School, Aikala, and joined the Roman Catholic diocese of Allahabad in the year 1969.

He completed his minor seminary studies at St Paul's Minor Seminary, Lucknow along with intermediate studies and did philosophy and theology at St Joseph's Regional Seminary, Allahabad.

After being ordained priest on April 13, 1980, Fr John worked as co-pastor, and as in-charge in various mission stations, parishes and as headmaster and principal of educational institutions in the diocese of Allahabad.

Loved and admired by every one in the diocese and in the places where he worked, Fr John Louis has left each one in unfathomable grief and sorrow after being ill for a very brief time. May his soul rest in peace.

Funeral rites will commence on Sunday, 24-05-2015 at 4.00 p m with the Holy Mass in St. Joseph's Cathedral, Allahabad.
