Kasargod, May 21: In a disconcerting observation, the postmortem report on a murdered woman has concluded that her death was caused as the wound was stitched without removing the blade of the knife that had been stuck inside the body of the victim at the time. The report pertains to a woman who was murdered by her own son, who was angry at her because she did not yield to his pestering for property.
Padmavati (60), wife of the late Kunhiraman, residing near Mogralputtur Chowki, had been stabbed with a knife by her son, Anil Kumar (35), in connection with dispute on property. After this incident, injured Padmavati was taken to the cooperative hospital in Kumble initially. Thereafter, she was shifted to a private hospital in Kasargod, where she died without responding to treatment.
The postmortem was conducted at Pariyaram Medical College Hospital. Police surgeon, Dr Gopalakrishna Pillai, who removed the blade of the knife from inside the woman's body, observed that she died as the knife was not removed before stitching the wound.
The report has commented that the 12-cm knife had entered the woman's body through her back, and made its way till the lungs. When the accused was arrested, the policemen could only recover the handle of the knife but not the blade. Kumble police circle inspector had passed on this information to the police surgeon. The surgeon, during the examination, found that the blade of the knife continued to remain inside the body. It was handed over to the police.
The policemen are investigating the murder.
