Udupi, May 20: "Modi-led government has done an outstanding work. Congress is needlessly creating a big issue out of Land Acquisition Bill," said B S Yeddyurappa, BJP national vice-president and former chief minister on Wednesday May 20.
Addressing a press meet at the BJP office here, Yeddyurappa informed that for the past six days, he has been engaged in gram panchayat election campaign in various places and that BJP is emphasising on centralization of power with Prime Minister Modi focussing on strengthening the villages.
Yeddyurappa alleged that chief minister Siddaramaiah was totally neglecting rural development works and his ‘Namma grama, namma raste' project was yet to start.
Yeddyurappa recalling his term as CM said, "I had sanctioned Rs 5 crore for lake development during my term. Siddaramaiah declared the establishment of Lake Development Planning Authority at the state, but has not taken any further step."
He also said that the state government is against farmers and against development of SC/ST communities.
"There is a requirement of 2.24 lac metric tonne of food (rice and wheat), out of which the center has provided a major share. The financial condition in the state is in bad shape," he added.
"The CM is not concentrating on sanctioning compensation for farmers who have lost their crops. The CM has completely forgotten about the welfare of the public. I am confident that people will support BJP by rejecting the Congress party," Yeddyurappa said.
Answering Rahul Gandhi's criticism of Narendra Modi's administration, Yeddyurappa said, "Before going to a press meet, Rahul Gandhi should reveal 10 years of their (UPA) achievements and compare it with one year of NDA government's achievements. UPA was involved in scams like 2G spectrum, coal and others."
Praising Modi for his China tour, Yeddyurappa said that Modi signed 24 commercial agreements worth billions of dollars and Japan also came forward with 20 agreements.
Responding to Sorake's ‘He (Yeddyurappa) will go back to jail soon’ statement, Yedddyurappa said, "I will fight till the party comes back to power in Karnataka state. I will always support BJP."
District BJP president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Geethanjali Suvarna, Uduay Kumar Shetty, Vasanth Salian, Naveen Kuthyar and others were present in the press meet.
