Mangaluru, May 16: "Dakshina Kannada district congress committtee has appointed senior congress leaders as observers to 7 Vidhan Sabha constituencies as a prelude to the grampanchayath elections scheduled for May 29," said interim district congress president Ibrahim Kodijal at the district congress office here on Saturday May 16.
He added, " We believe that people will support the congress party in the gram panchayat elections after witnessing the good governance of the congress government for two years in the state. Siddaramaiah's government gave an assurance in the manifesto that out of 160 points already available, the state government has fulfilled 95 points."
On the second steep price hike of petrol and diesel in 15 days, Ibrahim Kodijal criticized the union BJP government.
He alleged, " At the time of elections, BJP leaders are used to delivering false promises to the people but congress has never done and will never do so."
On being questioned by the media as to why property tax was not reduced after being assured it would happen once congress comes to power, Kodijal replied, ”There is legal problem regarding this and the matter will be resolved in 3 years.”
