Muscat, May 15: Family fun in a festive, relaxed and comfortable indoor setting was the hallmark of ‘MCCP Fete’ organized by MCCP Oman recently at the Le Grand Hall, Al Falaj Hotel, Muscat. Family Fiesta featured variety entertainment and dance competitions for children, delicious food stalls, entertainment, games, prizes, shopping and more. The event provided laughter, excitement and happiness for all ages.
The event was formatted in two sessions - a competition titled 'MCCP Idol’ for juniors as variety entertainment show, and ‘Naach Naach’ - MCCP Champ 2015 for inters and seniors’ category as dance talent show.
At 3.30 pm, the curtain raised as the graceful and beautiful community services secretary Neslin Moras took position on the podium and through her flawless presentation being a toastmaster herself, opened the epistle, anchoring the 1st session of Mangalorean Fiesta.
As a custom and tradition, the prayer at the beginning was invoked by spiritual secretary Flavia Castelino, followed by welcome address on behalf of president and the exeutive members of Year 23 by sports secretary Lynel Lobo. Further on, in an innovative manner the clap was sounded to mark the inaugural ceremony of ‘MCCP Fete’ by president Prescilla Menezes, as the Team 23 members shared the dais.
The introduction of judges was presented by treasurer Stephen Rodrigues and the 2nd in line officers escorted them to the designated judging chairs and welcomed them with bouquets. The judges were:
• Madhumathi Nandakishore, a well-known classical dancer / trainer for past 25 years. Mostly she is seen on the judging panel at premium talent hunt shows. She is also an international yoga therapist and inspires people for a stress-free healthy living through her 'Art of Living' classes.
• Srividya Rajesh, a classical dancer by profession who is also a teacher at Indian School Seeb. She has years of experience in teaching and judging talent shows at school and community levels.
• Vinoj, a free style and hiphop dance specialist, who is a private teacher and also an eminent choreographer for variety talent shows, having years of experience in presenting stage shows through his students and personal level. He has the distinction of being a judge at Jankhar shows.
• Laljit Raveendran, a free style, hiphop and contemporary artiste, who is also well versed in choreographing cinematic styles as he has served in the film industry, and thus understands the genre of talent hunt in various formats.
• Vineetha Vinaya Sekar, who, though young is very passionate about dancing, and is a dancer / trainer. She has numerous accolades of winning shows, and her students too have bagged awards at competitions in free style, cinematic, contemporary and talent show of different formats.
The competition rules and regulations were meticulously presented by general secretary Shyla Machado, after which she took charge of the competition along with Flavia Castelino at the timers table. From tiny tots to young talents, every participant set the stage on fire with fabulous performances as though they were proving their skills at aninternational stage of talent hunt. It was a nail-biting finish for all the participants, with marginal differences. The tally counter was ably handled by vice-president (cultural, spiritual and community services) Mariete Fernandes and Stephen Rodrigues, supported by core team member Suraj Rebello. Vote of thanks was proposed by internal auditor Ivan D’souza.
Results announcement and management of this part of the event was handled by Stephen Rodrigues efficiently. Vice-president (finance and sports) Edward Mendonca honoured the judges with mementos. Participation certificates were presented to all the participants by ardent Mangaloreans who always support the community activities zealously. Loveline Rego, Sharon Alva, Remy Lobo of Ibn Sinna Pharmacy, Ashok of Muscat Pharmacy, and Stanley T H Fernandes did the honours. Winners' medals and certificates were given away by vice-president Edward Mendonca, while the winning title was conferred by the president.
Drawing competition results were also announced and the prize winners were honoured with medals and certificates by vice-president Mariete Fernandes. The competition was adjudicated by professional artist Deepal Gheewal who is also a teacher at the art class run by Shah Nagardas Manji stationers, one of the sponsors of the drawing competition. The Valentine's Day special competition on ‘Expression of Love’ quotation winners were also honoured in a unique way as they expressed their love to their beloved valentine on the stage. The Konkani Expression winner was Dilip Correa and English Expression winner was Leon Pinto.
‘Part 2’ of MCCP Fiesta was a total fun-filled carnival of Mangaloreans. Popularly known as 'Fun day moderator', Suraj Rebello took charge of this period of fun. Assisting him were community services secretary Neslin Moras and sports secretary Lynel Lobo. Variety of fun games, dances, face paintings, music, etc created an electrifying ambience at the venue. To top it all was the generosity of the audience gathered, as they were the best contributors at the charity fund raising stalls set up for a noble cause. Every person present at the venue walked away with gifts as they relished sumptuous snacks and dinner.
The six large teams that were formed among audience were very amusing and funny and added more fun and frolic to the occasion: 'Bendoorche Vandor' topped the points table with 528 points, 'Omzoorchi Mazram' in 2nd place with 498 points, 'Perlaache Tharle' with 313 points bagged 3rd place, followed by 'Vittlache Moos' with 283 points, 'Panglache Pisolin' and 107points and finally 'Cordelche Manke' scoring 104 points. The captains heading the teams Peter Prakash (Pedru), Lancy Lobo, Praveen Niddodi, Wilson Kinnigoli, Ajith Waldar and Shalet Noronha were honoured with attractively designed cups.
Konkani music albums were released on the occasion. Dony Correa’s maidan album ‘Hero’ presented by Dilip Correa and Kevin Misquith’s 5th volume ‘Ek Geeth’ presented by Loveline Rego were released by Stanley T H Fernandes. Sharing the dais were the core team members Donald Pinto and Suraj Rebello, along with president of the MCCP year 23.
MCCP Fete lucky draw (RO 100 voucher) sponsored by Travel Point was won by Lavina Almeida, and the voucher was presented by Philomena Mendoca who was the highest fund raiser at this event.
In its entirety ‘MCCP Fete 2015’ was a huge success articulated and executed by the team, adding another jewel to the crown of the Mangalorean Catholic Centre of the Parish (MCCP) Oman. Team 23 was successful in organizing a spectacular evening of fun and frolic in all abundance for its members that will be cherished by all, until next of its kind that would be on the cards by Team 24.
