M'luru: Laxmi memorial college of nursing celebrates nurses’ day

Mangaluru, May 13: The Student nurses’ association unit of Laxmi memorial college of nursing celebrated nurses’ day at Moti Kala Mantapa on May 12, in order to commemorate the 195th birthday of their foundress, Florence Nightingale.



The chief guest, Lt Rita Thomas, nursing superintendent, KMC Hospital, Mangaluru, in her address highlighted the changing role of a nurse in policy making for providing care and cost effective care to her clients.

The theme for the day was 'Nurses: A force for change- care effective cost effective', which was unveiled by Raina Menezes, junior lecturer. Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal, emphasized on uplifting the image of nurses and fighting for their rights. She stressed upon providing quality care based on high standards.

A symposium was conducted on the theme by the students to get a deeper understanding of the day’s theme. The celebration ended with a scrumptious meal for the gathering.
