Mangaluru: Car accident at Tannirbavi - Two youngsters dead

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (DV)

Mangaluru, May 12: A car accident at Tannirbavi road here on Tuesday May 12 claimed the lives of two young persons.

The deceased have been identified as Tasheel (21), son of Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of Falnir, and Prineeta Suvarna from Karwar, who was staying at her grandmother's house in Balmatta here.

They were driving in an Hyundai i20 car when the accident took place.

They were driving from Kulur towards Tannirbavi beach when the car went out of control and veered off the road and fell into the river, killing both of them. It is said that the accident happened when Tasheel was overtaking another vehicle.

The car was being driven recklessly at a high speed which caused the accident, police sources said. People from IOC who were stationed nearby phoned and informed the police about the accident. The police with the help of fire brigade, sand labourers and locals participated in the rescue operation.

The car doors could not be opened for rescue purposes as they were locked. The glasses of the car were broken to take out the bodies from the car. The central locking system is blamed for this. In manual system, the doors would open in such cases.

Normally in case of small accidents, the footpath, which is around one and half feet above the road, acts as a barricade. A big tree near the accident spot and also some other small trees  in between the sea and road also could have stopped the car from falling into the river. But the speed of the car was such that, it crossed these hurdles and ended up in the river.

The car was later fished out of the river with the help of a crane. The bodies were also recovered.

Prineeta was pursuing PU studies through correspondence while Tasheel had finished his graduation and was running a business, sources said.

Why are you against making this communal when you have already made everything so communal by your actions. Just because the guy lost his life it does not absolve him of the guilt of killing the girl. It was his rash driving which killed the girl and lead to his death too.

Even their parents might read someday all these comments and feel bad that they were pointing on my son/daughter. So kindly dont point on anyone. I am a mangalorean girl but I currently study abroad, I will always Mlore my home but when I read such disgraceful comments I begin to question the morality of my city. Does ANYONE care that two lives were lost, two Young, thriving lives just vanished in a matter of seconds. Agreed that the driving of the boy should be questioned but what does his or her religion have to do with their deaths? Yes rules must be followed and lines must not be crossed but that does not given anyone the right in this forum and elsewhere to point fingers at the religion. How shallow can you get that you are willing to create a religious debate over the lives of two people? What does that say about your moral upbringing? At the end of the day they are humans before they are Hindu/Muslim/Christian. The problem is we have forgotten how to be tolerant and respectful to each other and unfortunately this will down to some of the younger generation and the vicious cycle will continue. Practice your religion and Embrace others' religion, no death ever arises because of religion, we, humans use religion to justify such acts! Being religious is not narrow minded but accusing other religions and considering ones religion is superior is definitely narrow minded. I hope you'll find your morality and change your thinking.

Facebk brought two independent curious-exploring-type individuals coming from different backgrounds and different distant places to reduce their physical distance in a small car. Distance is not a matter anymore.

Tragedy impacted two families the most. Let's understand their reaction.

Boys side fly - son, we gave you all freedom, we were happy wit ur performance. We support ur private life. We support ur dating wit young college going pretty gals from other communities. Just make use of the opportunity once u gain her attention. But we want u to be alive and safe despite ur reckless driving and extravagant lifestyle. Oh son, u were such a nice son why you left us in misery? Who will give back our son?

Girls fly - oh sweet child, why u kept us in dark about ur i20 crush that crashed us to hell? We left u at ajji place for our convenience so that u cud work as well as study puc and build ur own future? Why did you cheat us beti? Ur job was to study. But ur priorities have changed. Why excess use of fb and meeting of unknown fb guys? You know very well social tension around u dear daughter. You know those guys will use u for their selfish needs. Why did you go with that guy without informing us? U trusted someone else. We gave all our resources to make sure u r happy in life. We sacrificed everything for u. But u didn't think about us when you indulging in jolly ride with a person who is not a classmate, not a known real friend, not a family member? Who will give our daughter back? Our daughter didn't knew one particular community guys take other community girls in their car n bikes to distant places like beaches parks hotels etc. She didn't knew it was very common in dk.

Really a very very sad accident. Could have been avoided provided the boy would have just slowed down and taken a minute more. My Pakistani instructor once told me " It is better to loose a minute in life than to loose your life in that same minute". Even after so many accidents our younger generation fail to remember.

Since you support bajrang dal and sene, you might as well support taliban who are against girls going to school. Just think, if taliban would have ruled in mangalore she would not go to school, nor she could meet anyone to roam with.

As long as the other community enjoy and support #2 business and going behind other community women, covering their women and keeping them home safe..others would not tolerate it anymore....We don't have the mentality of being proud with #2 business, cheating, gondaism etc...Some people think they are over smart. but they are taking advantage of tolerance of other community people.

    A few observations
1.Firstly heart felt condolences to the family of both the boy and girl because whatever the intentions of the children might have been losing them is not acceptable to anyone. May God give them strength and will power to face the difficult times ahead.
    2. This incident highlights the importance of how the society and the younger generation has been approaching life as a whole and how times are changing. It would be wrong to comment on this individual case as to the reasons why all this happened because it's best known probably to the two souls who lost their lives and their families and we would only be doing injustice to their emotions by making slewed comments. But it definitely is a eye-opener for all parents and also youngsters who might be reading these posts as to how certain wrong decisions may effect not only your life but also others. I think everyone should take this as an example and make sure such events may not happen in future. It needs a collective effort from the parents children and the society as a whole if things are to change.
    3. Lastly though I appreciate daijiworld for bringing out such incidents I think it was premature and in bad taste to bring out the names of the individuals. Just mentioning the incident details without the names I feel would have served the same purpose rather than invite unnecessary mud slinging on religion and other issues.

As much as my heart bleeds for these two young adults who lost their lives, it hurts even more to read through some of the vile comments posted here...Are we really going to compare the two lives and value one above the other? all I can hear is the blame..the blame on the driving, gulf money, dating, the parents..are u guys out of ur minds? Do u know how many people die in this country each day in road traffic accidents even when they are within the speed limit..oh let's blame everything but the condition of our roads for that..oops did I forget abt the one and a half foot barricade and the big tree which could hav prevented the accident..Thank you daijiworld for that information..i did not know that trees were strategically grown at accident prone sites to prevent cars at high speed from falling into the river
Can we please get over the fact that they belonged to two different communities..can we for once just look at them as two human beings who had to leave this world a little too early..can we stop dissecting the situation further on the basis of religion wealth hormones and all other kinds of s#it that i've been reading in the comments section here..can we stop the hate
It was an accident..of which they were both victims...road crashes are the leading cause of death among young people...even if they don't own a flashy car or drive within the speed limit or don't rely on gulf money or don't date or barricade themselves from ppl belonging to the other community..So please treat this as an accident where two young people unfortunately lost their lives...and stop spinning your own hate filled polarising stories behind it.

Parents are crying for their fault. Parents are equally responsible for that. There is no point in crying now. Parents wants to show that their children have big cars and they can drive that. This is only charbi nothing else. Suppose someone who was walking on th road died and it is one of your relative what would have been your reaction. You would have commented same way. Its good that for their recklessness they dies. If poor fellow who was walking on road died what have been his familie situation. Whoever driving recklessly pleae dont kill innocent people on the road. Its better you die. Few years back because of reckless driving took life of two bread earners of the family who are just walking and the driver boy escaped at same place. Dont depend this things. Its really saddens me when i read the comments made by few of our readers. I wonder why people see negativity when a boy and a girl are together? why is religion the center of the conversation. I keep reading of so many accidents in our town and keep wondering what can be done to avoid loss of our youngsters. Kindly act as grown up's and dont post comments in haste. One basic question to liberal minds on irresponsible dating -

If a young girl serious at studies, from my family studying in puc n stays at ajji place, goes for a fun-long-drive with a wealthy handsome businessman who doesn't have any intentions of marrying her, how will I respond to such a practical situation of relationship? And if fate seals her life forever for no faults of her, how will I accept such a fate ?

Preventive measures would have definitely saved not one but two lives.

Gabriel, If the same accident happened and she was traveling with her future husband (chosen by her parents and she stays in her ajji's place for study) and ended up with the same fate, would you still say, prevention is better. Yes!! prevention is better with safe driving not going out. No one just cant stay 24 hours indoors and study. Accidents can happen when you're out whether you're with your friends or classmates. The question here is the accident which could have avoided if it was driven safely.

Instinctive nature of humans is to protect their close network or protecting self-interests. Protecting young grown up girl is duty of family in our dependent lives. Modern day dating mania of youngsters starting from seventh class is rising ballistic. Dating mostly doesn't involve responsibility n accountability. Fun based dating is alright but some datings starts with a mask of love but real intentions are to ditch a committed girl depending on that girls' external parameters such her age, community, family. Weaker background girls r hounded with malicious intentions. Most girls look charming from outside but doesn't have brain to think realistically.

Wealth acquired has been misused in various ways. Money car posh looks expensive extravagant lifestyle - all could tempt girls to fall into a trap called fun n merry. Girls living away from home r gullible targets. When one looks at consequences n deep impact caused at the end of joyful dating period, one feels envious about death.

This is why the parents need to be not only friendly with their children but also to be role models, mentors and guiding force by monitoring their individual activities all across. Looks like a brand new car, driven by a young boy with a young girl as companion…, what can be expected.., but speed, glamour, humor, arrogance, negligence and much more. The end result is loss of 2 lives and lot of questions for their parents from the near & dear ones and from the society.

Very easy to advise youngsters about taking care, but the problem is it is not their mistake but the age where the sudden surge of hormones hijack the controlling system of the mind and they do not understand to estimate the limit, and all of us have passed through that stage where we used to do exactly opposite of what our parents wished sometime or the other!! This phenomenon is amplified in today's times with the easy availability of fast cars, gizmos, money, etc. and more so the media/films which portray and glorify daredevil acts!! Death conquers everything - be it wealth, material things, fame, youthfulness, passion, discrimination, good or bad deeds etc., my sympathies r with young girl child whose life is cut short by reckless driving. Her parents must be devastated to know their ward studying correspondence puc had to die for no fault of hers.

An advise to inexperienced young drivers who hit Indian standard roads with high speed is if you taking someone along with you then make sure u r doubly cautious about accidents. Co-passenger life is in ur hand Mr.driver. If u want to be reckless n show off your driving skills, plz go to an isolated place where u don't cause damage to vehicles that come on ur way. Too much sophistication in modern cars makes driver ignore outside real world realities of turbulence.

RIP both. Let us not discuss what happened as both are no more. Let other who get into similar situation learn lesson. My tips to young boys who take young girls for a joy ride or for some other reasons drive with girls sitting next to them, please do not over speed. Drive slowly, look around, enjoy the scenery, discuss the nature or whatever subject you both like to discuss, hold hands if allowed you can enjoy more each other's company than driving speed. Last tip, only go with only those friends with whom you can spend peaceful quality time.

What a tragedy, losing young children to their parents, said girl is only daughter, what sorrow and pain will be there, lost everything, their dreams are vanished,
Mistake of children parents(loved ones)has to suffer

For Youngsters fun to drive, joy riding for entertainment, new car sitting with young girl,
sometime to show others and for girl that he is hero, never thinking about tragedy,

Youths please take care, whatever you do, think about your parents, pity on them, that after what kind hell they has to be pass through if anything happen to you.

It is a complete unnatural death. Have you all wondered why would someone take his own life? I personally dont think its a natural death. Even if the car is fast he is suppose to take on the left but why would he end up falling into the river? I have been in that road more than 100 times and i have my own cousins and brothers who speed up in that road but alhamdullilah we dint end up being in that situation. I am strongly guessing its a default of the car and i am 101% sure this is not at all a natural death.

After Udupi Police were supplied with new Interceptor and Speed-sensing Camera they have reduced the maximum speed on Udupi-Manipal road to 40 kmph, but the sign boards still show maximum speed of 50 kmph. Since last two days the people coming from Manipal to Udupi are harassed a lot by traffic police especially during evening time. Even the scooters going at a speed above 40 are fined Rs.300/-. Due to this new rule the traffic between Manipal and Udupi is slowed down considerably and it is causing unnecessary traffic jams whole day.

Did he wearing same 'sport glasses' while driving although to impress his gal frnd who is sitting nearby.

Whether gal done any mischievous things while driving he lost his control and car fell to river as occur in western movie.

While driving always inform women's to take a 'back seat' to avoid accidents.

That's not a number plate but a registration card issued before you put on the number plate. Appears to be a brand new car

    Very sad and unfortunate.
Lack of discipline on roads is the prime cause of tragedies and miserable status of traffic.
Priceless lives lost gone for ever.
Let wisdom enlighten to overcome the blindness, ignorance and negligence.

when we drive latest cars, when we are inside only the speed we can know through the speedometer. In gulf when the car moves above 120 speed one can hear the alarm, bcoz while driving the person doesn't feel from inside he is in high speed, only from outside we can experience. Please careful on indian roads.

Not every youngster is like this. Some have the sense of driving in a proper manner. Kindly do not brand all youngsters as immature.
