Mangaluru, May 12: 'BJP is confident of winning the upcoming gram panchyat elections' said District BJP President Pratap Simha Nayak at a press meet held at the BJP office here on May 12.
Addressing the media Pratap Simha Nayak said, "BJP is fully prepared for the upcoming gram panchyat elections, Many meetings have been orgainzed for election prepartion. Almost 70% of candidate selection is completed, the cut off date for Nomination is May 19. Various state teams lead by prominent BJP leaders will arrive for the election campaign. The focus is mainly is on local issues but we will also expose the failure of the state government."
Condemning the Congress government at the state he said, "The state governement has issued several rules whereby the panchayat is powerless even to issue the licence for constructing the houses. The gram panchayats are still facing water problems and poor roads. The state government is total failure in maintaining law and order in the state, The police is not able to protect the right of people. The people have lost the hopes on the police as they are working as per the instructions of the MLAs. The BJP government in the state had issued many policies and schemes in favour of the farmers and all these have been dropped by the congress government,"
"It shows that it is an anti-farmer government. The state government has no agenda for development. We will explain to the people the success of the union government and various policies and schemes which are introduced for the benefit of the people of the nation." Nayak added.
"The panchyat members powers have been shortened, they have deprived of thier benefits and honourary fees, we will expose the failure of the state government and we are confident of wining the election with good majority." Nayak concluded
Ganesh Karnik MLC, BJP leader Monappa Bhandary and others were present at the meeting.
