Mumbai, May 11 (IANS): Mumbai Indians on Monday were allowed to replace injured all-rounder Corey Anderson for the remaining matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2015.
The technical committee of the IPL that consists of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Anurag Thakur, Sourav Dasgupta, Subir Ganguly, Sourav Ganguly and Ravi Shastri approved the New Zealander's replacement.
"Corey Anderson of the Mumbai Indians was scheduled to join the New Zealand Test squad in England, at the end of the league stage of the IPL 2015," BCCI said in a release.
"He suffered injuries to his left hand on April 14 and 17. The injuries have not healed in time for him to play in the league matches of the IPL 2015," the release added.
"The IPL Technical Committee has approved a replacement for him in the Mumbai Indians squad. If the Mumbai Indians choose to pick a replacement player, then he will be eligible, as per the IPL Player Regulations, to play in their remaining matches of the ongoing season, including the Playoffs, in case the team qualifies for the same."
