He was speaking at the inauguration of ‘Anxiety and depression awareness week’ held at Kanachur Hospital and Research Center on May 4.
Enlightening the gathering on the mental illness, Dr Pradhyumn, assistant professor, department of psychiatry, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre, said that anxiety and depression is very common among all sections of people. He urged the people to wipe out the stigma attached to mental illness so that rapport can be built between doctors and needy patients.
Speaking on the importance of spiritual values to fight against mental disorders, Dr Khaja Naseeruddeen, dean, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre, said that no mental illness could enter the realm of healthy man if he has the strong faith in almighty God.
Dr Gopal Acharya, dept of surgery welcomed the gathering. Deepa, manager, front office, was the master of ceremony. Raveesha A, MSW, Kanachur Hospital and Research Center proposed vote of thanks.
Dr Devi Prasad, medical superintendent, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre and Dr Rohan Monis, administrative medical officer, Kanachur Hospital and Research Centre were present at the venue.
During the camp (May 4 to May 10) the hospital will be providing free mental health checkup and medicines at discount rate.
