Mumbai, May 7 (IANS): Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Tom Moody on Thursday applauded man-of-the-match Eoin Morgan for his splendid and timely innings, saying the Englishman showed how dangerous he could be with the bat.
Morgan struck a blistering 63 off 28 balls against Rajasthan Royals in their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter, to help his side reach 201/4 at the Brabourne stadium here. The Royals were restricted to 194/7, thus losing by seven runs.
"Morgan is a dangerous player with the bat. He showed today how dangerous he can be. This innings was always in the making.
"I am pleased for him and also for our side that he has had the opportunity to express himself and bat as well as he did. Moreover it was an important game for us. His 50 was very important and was the catalyst for us to get to 200," Moody said at the post-match press conference.
The 49-year-old coach praised the wicket, saying it was good to bat on.
"I think the wicket was excellent. At this venue the outfield is very quick. The ball comes onto the bat very well. This helps the batsman to get going right from the start. There are also something there in the wicket for the bowlers at the start," he said.
A confident Moody said although Royals came close to chasing the target down, he was sure that his side would end up winners.
"I thought we had control of the game throughout. There was a slight sort of wobble in the second last over of Praveen Kumar. But we had the game in our control throughout. I surely had the trust and faith in our attack. Bhuvneshwar (Kumar) also bowled really well at the end with those yorkers," he said.
Bhubaneswar Kumar finished with 3 for 44.
