Mangaluru, May 7: St Aloysius College (Autonomous), Mangaluru has got an excellent grade of 'A' from National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 3.62 in the third cycle of accreditation. In the earlier accreditation the college had 'A' grade with a CGPA of 3.48.
The NAAC team which visited the college in March 2015 has expressed high appreciation with regard to the infrastructure and the quality of education offered at St Aloysius College. With such high accreditation the college has acquired the distinction of being one of the top five colleges in Karnataka.
Being in its 135th year of existence, St Aloysius College after becoming autonomous has achieved several distinctions including the recognition by UGC as a 'College with Potential for Excellence'. The Institution has 14,000 students from primary to post graduate classes and research studies.
With the latest accreditation, the college will be one among the top 100 colleges of India out of a total number of 45,000 colleges. The college was accredited as 'A' grade in the first cycle in the year 2004 and again as 'A' grade college with a CGPA of 3.48 in 2009 (second cycle).
