Kundapur, May 5: President of Congress party's Kundapur block unit, Malyady Shivaram Shetty, has urged the BJP leaders to seek apology from the people of the country for giving them false information about black money and misleading them into believing what the leaders said to be true.
"The BJP leaders had announced that if their party wrests power at the centre, within 100 days they would bring back lacs of crores of rupees belonging to Indians which is stacked in Swiss banks. They had declared that they would distribute this amount at the rate of Rs 15 lac per head by crediting individual accounts of the people, during election campaigns. After winning the election, the BJP leaders have not been saying anything about this promise, even though their government is in office for over 300 days. The BJP leaders cheated the people by telling them that black money would be distributed among them. These leaders should either credit the amount to accounts of the people immediately or tender unconditional apology for concocting cock-and-bull stories,' he stressed.
He was speaking after inaugurating a mock programme of distributing black money cheques that was organized in the town on Monday May 4. Kundapur Planning Authority chairman, Jacob D'Souza, Congress IT cell state chief secretary, Deepak Navunda, Congress IT cell state secretary, Chandrashekhar Shetty, town Congress committee secretary, Vinod Crasta, municipal Councillors, Shakuntala Gulwady, Sridhar Sheregar, Jyoti Kody, nominated councillors, Devaki Sannaiah and Shivaram Putran, block Congress secretary, Shivanand, former municipal councillors, K G Nityanand, Venkatesh Gulwady, Abdulla Kody, and local constituency IT cell office bearers, Sridhar Acharya, Pratheek Shetty, Sunil Poojary, and others were present.
