Kasargod, May 4: The policemen have succeeded in finding out a youth, who had befriended a girl when travelling in a train, and then making sexual advances at her when alone. He had decamped after sexually harassing her.
Akhil Kumar (25) from Trikkaripura Madakkai was travelling by a train when the girl from Mumbai, a tenth standard student, was in the same compartment. The girl was going to the residence of her relatives in Hosdurg, and Kumar too told her that he belongs to Hosdurg. Akhil later visited the house of the girl in Hosdurg, and noticing that there was no one else at home during that period, he sexually harassed her and then made good his escape, it is alleged.
The cyber cell police found the whereabouts of the accused on the basis of a cell phone number he had given to the girl to contact him.
The girl, during her visit to the house of another relative in Ponnani later, had narrated about her ordeal there. The family of her relatives had lodged police complaint in Ponnani by making use of Childline. A team of policemen led by Hosdurg police circle inspector, U Preman, made this arrest.
