Mangaluru, May 1: The third Junior Magistrate (first class) court here has announced sentence and fine for the first grade assistant of the government PU college at Bokkapatna here, who had attacked headmistress of the school about two years back.
The accused, Shivaprasad Dev (35) from Chamarajanagara, had approached headmistress of the school, Annapoorna Buchchan, and sought his service records from her on July 27, 2013. She said she can provide him xerox copies but not the original as per rules. Dev insisted on handing over the original to him. Following refusal to entertain his demand, he used abusive and obscene words against the headmistress, hit her in the head and left temple regions, and pulled at her sari, it was alleged. The accused also posed murder threat, the prosecution had said.
The then Barke police station sub-inspector, Muhammed Shariff, had registered the case, conducted investigation, and filed charge sheet in the court. The case came up for final hearing on April 30, upon which, judge of the court, Undi Manjula Shivappa sentenced the accused to two and half years of imprisonment and imposed fine of Rs 9,500 in total for different offences.
Assistant public prosecutor, B Mohan Kumar, had pleaded in the case on behalf of the prosecution.
