Dubai, Mar 16: Acute financial crisis has forced an Indian woman from Kerala and her four children to live without water and electricity at their home here for the past two weeks.

Sareena, whose husband Abdul Razak died two weeks ago of tongue cancer, is in dire strait because she has no money left after spending the savings on her husband's treatment.

To make matters worse, the power supply to her one bedroom unit accommodation was cut off two weeks ago.

"We are now forced to live in the dark because we have no money to even pay for the reconnection of electricity," said Sareena.

"Some of our neighbours are helping us with some water, but surviving without electricity is difficult," she added.

The family hails from Calicut and has been living here for the past nine years.

To add to her woes, some business partners of her husband, who ran a small fish outlet, have started knocking on her doors saying her husband owed them money, according to Khaleej Times.

"I have no clue about these loans. I am even unable to sustain my family. How can I pay back loans?" Sareena said.
