Udupi, Apr 24: Three of the main accused, who have been named as having carried out the murder of Pitty Nagesh alias Nagesh Devadiga (41) from Kukkikatte, have succeeded in securing bail from the court. These persons, who were in judicial custody all these days, got conditional bail on Thursday April 23.

Pitty Nagesh, a notorious rowdy sheeter from the area, had been stopped by some people in front of Halima Sabju Auditorium at Udyavar near here on the night of September 11 last year when he was moving in his car and then chased around and killed with lethal weapons. All the accused were arrested by the police the next day.
The police had claimed that Pitty had been murdered on account of his long-standing enmity with one of the accused, Vishwanath Shetty. In their charge sheet, the policemen said that persons owing allegiance to to incarcerated rowdy sheeter, Vinod Shettigar, had hatched the said plan to kill Pitty Nagesh as a vengeance for plotting the murder of Vinod Shettigar, a ruffian, when he was in the local sub-jail.
Main accused, Vishwanath Shetty (32) from Korangrapady, Guruprasad Shetty (26) from Alevoor Guddeangady and Richard alias Munna (33) have now got conditional bail. The bail was sanctioned by the district and sessions judge, Shivashankar B Amarannavar. Other two main accused, Santosh Poojary (32) from Bailoor, and Zakir Hussain (25) from Kukkikatte Kalyan Nagar had secured bail sometime back through the state high court. Senior advocate, M Shantaram Shetty, had pleaded for bail on behalf of the accused.
Vishwanath Shetty, who had been sent to Belagavi Central Jail from here, had filed a complaint in the court here, about having been treated by the jailers there inhumanly. He had filed a private complaint against the local jail superintendent, and jail superintendent and jailer of Belagavi, in the court of the additional chief judicial magistrate. Thereafter, the accused were shifted to Dharwad jail.
