Mangaluru, Apr 23: A journalism student of Mangalore University has filed complaint against a post which she says is rude and slanderous.

In her complaint filed in Konaje police station here, the student, Chaitra, has said that a post which appeared in the page titled 'Mangalore Muslim Kudla' says that 'After reading the message which came from an anonymous mobile number, Chaitra has committed suicide'.

The Konaje police, who have received the complaint, have referred it to the cyber cell.

In the meanwhile, Akhil Bharathiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has urged the police to arrest the people behind this post and see that the concerned are punished. 'In the recent past, atrocities on women are on the increase. Insulting posts in social websites have often affected the self-confidence of girls. There are many instances in which the girls even lost their lives. A few months ago, fake Facebook accounts were created in the name of girl students of a prestigious college in the city and derogatory matter was posted therein. Therefore, the policemen should diligently investigate the matter and apprehend the culprits,' ABVP said.
