Mumbai, Mar 12: Literary troupe of Mumbai in association with Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Maharashtra unit organized the 12th ‘Tulu Parba-2007’ as part of Suvarna Karnataka celebrations at Navi Mumbai here on Sunday March 11.
The programme was inaugurated by Manipal University former vice-chancellor Prof B M Hegde. He also presided over the function and released ‘Suvarna Karnataka Darshana’ a book edited by K Ananta Rama Rao
Kannada Sahitya Parishat Maharashtra unit vice-president M B Kukyan welcomed the gathering while journalist Daya Sagar Chauta compered.
Dr Sunita Shetty delivered a lecture on ‘Tuluvennara Bemmar’ while Mamata Rao spoke on the book ‘Suvarna Karnataka Darshana’, in the presence of Devadiga Sangha president Dharmapala Devadiga, Jayashrikrishna Parisara Premi Samiti president Vishwanath U Mada and others.
Later, a programme on ‘Health Guide’ presided over by Prof B M Hegde was also held. Sanjeevini Hospital Dr Suresh S Rao, Dr P G Rao, Dr S Shenkre, Dr Suchitra Salian and others participated in the programme. Dr Shashiraj Shetty compered.
Several cultural programmes were also held on the occasion. Plays and dance depicting the Tulu culture were part of the show.
The valedictory was held on the same day in which Corporation Bank Mumbai general manager N M Pal was present as the chief guest.
Among those present was Navi Mumbai Hotel Owners’ Association president Shyam N Shetty. New Panvel corporator Santosh G Shetty, social worker and businessmen Bhaskar Shetty, Ghansoli Sri Mookambika Temple president Anni C Shetty were felicitated on the occasion.
Billawara Association honorary chief secretary Nityananda D Kotian compered.
