Margao, Mar 11: Maria Rebello, recently elevated to the FIFA Panel of Referees, was felicitated during a National Football League tie at the Nehru stadium here on Saturday.
She was presented a Fifa referee badge, a whistle and a fair play card by Anthony John D'Costa, chairman of the national referee sub-committee.
Hailing from Curtorim village, Maria represented the country six times at the international level, including four times as captain, and her state for 14 years. She was the first Goan to play in the Calcutta League.
She captained the country at the Asian Women's Football Championship in 1997, '98, '99 and 2001.
