Mangaluru, Apr 17: In connection with a case in which some persons were accused of playing mischief on the prospective buyers by claiming ownership on a piece of land owned by someone else, and defrauding a father-son duo to the tune of Rs 2.51 crore, five persons were arrested on Thursday April 16. Dr Abhinay Sorake from the city and his father were looking for land in the outskirts of the city for building a commercial complex. A person named Rabhiyat whom the family knew well, told them that they can buy a land at Pachchanadi owned by Victor Olive Fernandes.
On the basis of this recommendation, Dr Abhinay, and his father, went to the spot along with broker, Rabhiyat. Documents pertaining to three acres at Pachchanadi and another land measuring 3.36 acre adjacent to the first site were produced before them. Persons named Paul Monteiro, Jeevandas Shetty, Satish R K, Sunil Kumar, Praveen Shetty, Aphonse Maxim D'Souza, Uday Kumar, Vijesh Sunil, Kumar, Harish Tolar, Balu Balachandra Shetty, Gopinath, and Jeevan Roshan Cutinho introduced a person who claimed himself as Victor Olive Fernandes, to the duo. On the basis of legal scrutiny conducted by their lawyer, Abhinay and his father bought the land by paying Rs.2.51 crore. When they were inspecting the land on Wednesday, a person came there and claimed the land to be owned by him.
