Puttur: Fire at ICICI Bank branch causes loss of Rs 15 lacs

Puttur, Apr 16: In a major fire which broke out in the local branch of ICICI Bank on Wednesday April 15 morning, various items inside the branch were consumed by

flames. The loss in this incident, which reportedly occurred at night due to electric short circuit, has been estimated to be in the order of Rs 15 lac.

The said branch is located in a commercial complex at Kallare on main road here. The staff of the bank saw the flames only after opening the doors of the bank at 9 am

on Wednesday.  Fire brigade was alerted thereafter, and firemen doused the flames. Reportedly, no one came to know about the fire which got ignited inside the branch as its premises do not have proper ventilation system.

Five air-conditioners, five computers, teller machine, xerox machine, electrical wiring system, counter, items inside the cabin of the branch manager, and records were among the things which got destroyed in this incident.

The policemen at the town station here said they have not received any written report or complaint about the incident although they were informed about it.
