Mangaluru, Apr 15: In a strange incident which occurred in a prestigious hotel located at Hampankatta area in the city, a person who posed as a tourist, hired a room there. Later, the hotel staff found that he had stolen the LCD TV provided in the room.
As per a complaint filed by the hotel management with the city (north) police station here, a person who claimed himself to be Bhanuchandar from Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh, hired a room at around 9 am on April 10. He was accompanied by another person. After checking into room No. 111 allotted to them, the duo went out at 10 am and came back by 7 pm.
They ordered dinner inside the room, and left at 9.45 pm. When the reception staff made inquiries, they said one of them would come back after dropping off the other at Udupi. They never came back. The hotel staff waited for their return till April 13, before opening the room with the help of master key. They found to their chagrin that a 32" Panasonic LCD TV valued at Rs 37,000 had gone missing.
Staff of city (north) station have registered the case and set the investigation process in motion.
