Kasargod: Youth immolates himself - dies at hospital

Kasargod, Apr 14: A 35-year-old youth, who happened to be the native of Katukukke Soordelu in the district died in a hospital at Mangaluru on Monday April 13 morning. He had suffered severe burn injuries after torching himself on the evening of Sunday.

Ravi used to work as the cleanaer of a private bus moving in the district. He used to live with wife and children in a rented accommodation at Melinapete in Badiyadka. After some misunderstanding arose on some issues with wife on Sunday evening, he suddenly poured kerosene on himself and ignited fire, it is said. His wife and some others shouted for help, after which neighbors rushed to the spot, but did not succeed in extinguishing the flames immediately.

Ravi, who suffered grave injuries, was taken to the government hospital at Kasargod, after which he was referred to a hospital in Mangaluru. However, he did not positively respond to treatments, and breathed his last on Monday morning.

The deceased is survived by parents, wife, two children, a brother, and a sister. Badiyadka police have registered a case and begun investigation.
