Sullia, Apr 13: A 35-year-old lady ended her life at a distant relative's house near her home in Yetadka in Perlampady, Koltige village in the taluk on Sunday April 12.
The deceased has been identified as Umavathi from Yetadka in Perlampady, Koltige village.
It is gathered that the marriage of Umavathi's niece had been held at Volalambe in the taluk on Sunday. Family members had gone to visit this marriage. At the same time, the family members of her distant relatives living nearby had been to Kanakamajlu to attend a marriage function there. Umavathi went to that house and hanged herself. As there was no one in the house,this incident went unnoticed.
It is said that Umavathi was mentally depressed at the fact that she remained unmarried for want of a suitable match for long. She is survived by father, two brothers, and two sisters. A case was registered in Eshwaramangala police outpost relating to the incident, and assistant sub-inspector of the outpost, Cheluvaiah, has taken up investigation.
