Udupi, April 10: “Neelavara is a religious, cultural and political centre. The centre was adored by every king that ruled Tulunadu. There are signs of getting back the past glory in the centre”, said Dr B Jagadish Shetty, history scholar and principal of Udupi Poornaprajna College.
He was speaking after inaugurating a religious gathering in the temple on the eve of Car festival on Thursday April 9. “The temples should be the platforms of social service besides preserving values and tradition. A healthy society should be formed with unity and mutual coexistence in them”.
Kachuru Nageshwara temple managing trustee Birthi Gangadhar Bhandary presided over the programme. Kunjibettu consumers cooperative society president K Raghavendra Kini, Zilla panchayat member Mallika Balakrishna Poojary, Taluk panchayat member Umesh Naik, Kunjalu grama panchayat president Shakuntala Nayak, vice-president Gururaj Makkittaya were present as guests on the occasion.
