Udupi, Apr 9: Janapriya Crickters Udyavar will hold a-two day ‘South India level Floodlight Cricket Tournament,' Janapriya Trophy-2015’ at village panchayat Udyavar on Saturday April 11 and 12.
Nearly, 20 teams have registered for the tournament from across the state. A cricket team is also arriving from Chennai to take part in the tournament.
One of the players of Janapriya cricketers is Raghavendra who is an active tennis ball cricketer from past 15 years. He is a member of A K sports team Udupi. He always plays as an opening batsman in every tournament. He has played significant role in the success of his team.
The team will play under the directions of team captain Goutham. He is popularly known as ‘best sportive batsman’. Earlier, he had hit six sixes in an over in state level tournaments which were held at Saligrama and Katpady. He came out as the ‘Best individual batsman’ by scoring 85 runs in Kolar match. The team also promotes rural games and have received many prizes for their efforts.
Urban development and district-in-charge, Vinay Kumar Sorake will inaugurate the tournament. Former MLA Kaup, Lalaji R Mendon will preside over the programme. Chief guests Sri Chennabasavanna SL, MK Balaraj and committee president Jithendra Shetty, Udyavar, president Ashok Kotyan, secretary Avinash will be present on the occasion.
A felicitation programme will be organized to felicitate four dedicated players.
Suresh Shetty Gurme will distribute the prizes.
The first prize includes a cash prize of Rs 1, 00, 001 and permanent memento. The second prize includes Rs 50, 005 and permanent memento. Special prizes will be given for Man of the match, Man of the series, Best bowler, Best batsman.

About the organization:
The organization has been in existence from the last 20 years. They have conducted four rural and one district level cricket tournament this year. They have also organized state level cricket tournaments. The Udyavar cricketers’ team had conducted three different tournaments in one day for Volleyball, cricket and Kabaddi (for seniors and juniors).
The team members are active in Ganeshotsava as well as sharadotsava committees and also contribute tableaus during various festivals. The members collect donations for deprived families who are unable to bear marriage expense.
