Mangaluru, Apr 7: MLA J R Lobo handed over a cheque of Rs 70,000 which he arranged from the funds of the state government to Dayakar Bangera of Maroli on Tuesday April 7.
The house belonging to Bangera (50) had collapsed due to the recent rains. J R Lobo, who inspected the condition of the house three days ago, promised to arrange funds from the government, city corporation and congress party.
Both the legs of Bangera had been amputated and he is in a helpless condition. His wife works for a printing press and runs the family. They have no children.
Hence, Lobo took the responsibility of renovating the house. On Tuesday, the MLA handed over the fund of Rs 70,000 to Bangera at his residence.
In addition to this, the locals too showered help on the distressed family. A few residents donated construction material, while Vinay Mascarenhas, a congress party worker was instructed to ensure early completion of the work.
Vinod Pumpwell, Santhosh Pumpwell, Abbas Contractor, Protestants Association, members of the congress party supported the family.
