Mangaluru, Apr 4: Flights from the Gulf nations to Mangaluru city were affected due to the heavy sandstorm witnessed in the Gulf region over the past few days.
On Friday April 3, Jet Airways from Dubai was delayed by about two hours. It was supposed to reach Mangaluru at 8 am, instead it landed at 10 am.
Similarly, Air India Expess flight was scheduled to land at 7.30 am, but was delayed by three hours and reached only at 10.30 am.
Air India Express flight from Dammam arrived late by two hours at 9.50 am.
The same delay was experienced on Thursday April 2 as well, with both Air India Express and Jet Airways flights getting delayed by about two hours.
It is said that those coming home for Easter were seriously affected with delays and uncertainties.
Heavy sandstorm has hit Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar and UAE. Schools and offices have remained closed and traffic has been affected with visibility dropping. The skies turned orange and yellow as the storm encompassed the Gulf region.
