Bengaluru, Apr 1: The driver of a vehicle being operated by Brinks Arya Pvt Ltd fled with his vehicle containing cash amounting to Rs 66 lac belonging to different banks. The incident occurred at Avenue Road in the city which falls within the limits of City Market police station at 3 pm on Tuesday March 31.
The driver, identified as James from Kerala, used the opportunity that came his way when the staff had gone out to replenish cash into the ATM centre of State Bank of India at Avenue Road.
The above company has been hired by State Bank of India and Central Bank of India.Four persons from the company including the guard had taken over a crore of rupees in the cash vehicle. After placing cash into a couple of ATMs, the vehicle had reached Avenue Road. When the staff went out to put cash in the ATM and even the guard got down, the driver sped away with cash, gun of the guard and some other arms, policemen, who have registered the complaint, said.
It is learnt that the company in question spent about 90 minutes in search of the driver, and filed police complaint at around 4.30 pm. The police are facing problem in identifying the culprit as the company has no idea about his identity and whereabouts. The police said that the staff of the company say that the driver, who works for another private company, had been hired for Tuesday.
Labu Ram, deputy commissioner of western division, said that police have undertaken investigation into the above crime.
