Bantwal, Apr 1: A resident of Punacha village in the taluk ended his life on Tuesday March 31 by hanging himself. He has been identified as Anand Acharya (45) from Kuttitadka in the village.
It is gathered that Acharya had suffered kidney failure some years back, and had spent lacs of rupees towards treatment since then. He was a liquor addict. The problem of ill health and its financial implications had been bothering him.
Frustrated by health problems and liquor addiction, Anand Acharya committed suicide by hanging himself from the roof beams of the shed near his home on Tuesday, his family members said.
Vittal police sub-inspector, Prakash Devadiga, and other personnel visited the spot and took up investigation.
