Kundapur, March 31: Kundapur taluk witnessed widespread thunder,lightening and heavy rain in the morning on March 31. Two jersey cows have died due to lightening in
Hattiangadi. The electric gadgets and power cables in the house belonging to Gauri Poojary in Hattiangadi Arekallu were also damaged.
The loss is estimated to be more than Rs 3 lacs.As the power was put off since morning, further damage was averted.
The entire electric cables in the house were burnt and have come out. Fridge, fan, grinder, pump set and meter board were damaged. There were 6 people inthe house including a child when the incident occurred.
Heavy rain near Gangolli also disrupted normal life. The rain water could be seen deposited in low lying areas as there was no drainage for the rain water to flow. The water started flowing on the roads and disrupted traffic and created problems to the pedestrians.
Local gram panchayat which woke up in time started cleaning the drains. Their prompt action has been praised by the villagers. The people have urged the concerned to clean all the drains before the monsoon.
