Unearth Rs 8.8 crore worth of unaccounted assets
Bengaluru, Mar 27 (DHNS): The Lokayukta police have raided 10 government officials for possessing assets disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The simultaneous raids were conducted at 25 premises in Bengaluru rural, Bagalkot, Bidar, Hassan, KGF, Kalaburagi, Mandya, Raichur and Vijayapura. Unaccounted assets worth Rs 8.8 crore were unearthed during the raids.
The officials raided are: Executive Engineer at Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Division in Bengaluru Rural, H Janardhan; Assistant Secretary of Zilla Panchayat Bengaluru Urban District, Krishnappa Lohar; Executive Engineer at Jewargi West Bank Canal Division in Yadgir, Mallappa Ramappa Kandhare; Assistant Engineer PWD in Bidar, Ashok Wangapalli; Assistant Engineer Mudabala Branch Canal in Kalaburagi district, Jagannath Reddy; First Division Assistant City Municipal Council in Hassan, P R Rangegowda; Deputy Superintendent of Excise KGF, Chandrappa V; Assistant General M at Karnataka State Financial Corporation in Mandya, G Chandre Gowda; Excise Sub-Inspector in Raichur, G Hanumanthu and Assistant Executive Engineer Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board in Vijayapura, Eshwarappa Gurupadappa Devara.
Lokayukta officials said Janardhan possessed immovable properties worth Rs 1.13 crore, including a duplex house (Rs 50 lakh) and an agricultural land (Rs 50 lakh) in Doddaballapur taluk. The officer also owns movable assets worth Rs 42.55 lakh, including two cars (Rs 22 lakh) and gold ornaments (Rs 7 lakh).
Assistant Secretary Lohar possessed immovable properties worth Rs 57.99 lakh, including a two-storey residential building in Yeshwantpur (Rs 20 lakh), an apartment in RPC Layout (Rs 23 lakh) and three sites in Bengaluru. The official owns movable assets worth Rs 61.83 lakh, including two earthmovers (Rs 29 lakh), a car (Rs 6 lakh), and gold ornaments (Rs 10 lakh).
Officials found immovable properties worth Rs 1.40 crore from Assistant Engineer, Ashok Wangapalli's possession.
This include a three-storey apartment building at Gullar Haveli in Bidar (Rs one crore) built without CMC permission. The official also owned movable assets worth Rs 14 lakh.
A senior official said Assistant General Manager of KSFC Mandya N G Chandregowda possessed immovable properties worth Rs 1.27 crore, including a house in Gururaja Extension in Mysuru (Rs 50 lakh), a flat in Richmond Road (Rs 13.30 lakh) and three sites in Mysuru and Bengaluru (Rs 47 lakh).
The officer also owned movable assets worth Rs 25.64 lakh, including a car (Rs 4.5 lakh) and gold jewellery (Rs 11.26 lakh).
