Beltangady, Mar 28: Jarappa Gowda (60) from Bandasale in Belalu village in the taluk was found to have met with unnatural death on Friday March 27 morning. While it looked like a case of suicide, some relatives claimed that Gowda had been murdered.

The wife of Jarappa claimed that her husband had committed suicide. But brothers of the deceased said that it was a case of well-planned murder.

Jarappa's body was found hanging near his home. He had no sons, only four daughters. There had been frequent family quarrel over division of property, and it is learnt that the local police station was approached with a complaint relating this fight in the past.

Janaki, wife of Jarappa, said in her complaint to police, that her husband had committed suicide on account of family problems. Jarappa's brothers, Krishnappa Gowda and Gopal Gowda, have approached the police with a request to investigate the case from murder angle.

Locals said Jarappa used to tell the people that he would distribute his landed property among the children of his younger brothers instead of his own children.

Local police have received both the complaints. Postmortem was conducted in Mangaluru.
