Mangaluru, Mar 27: In recognition of their service provided faithfully Besant Evening College will be observing auto drivers day on March 29 at 6 pm in the college. This was disclosed at a press meet held here on March 27.
Dr Carmelita Goveas, principal of Besant Evening College said, "Auto rickshaw services are very crucial services accessed largely by people of lower income groups who do not own cars. They have been the most widely used on Mangaluru roads for the past so many years now. Yet auto drivers are unsung heroes in society today. So we have thought of dedicating one day to them as part of our outreach activities. We intend inviting a hundred or more auto drivers for a get-together. On that day a few auto drivers who have been faithfully rendering their services in the field for the past several years will be honoured. Naleen Kumar Kateel, MP of DK will be the chief guest. Uday Nayak, assistant commissioner of traffic police, Sunil Kumar Bajal, CPI(M) Mangaluru city president and Manel Annappa Nayak, vice president, WNES will be the guests of honour."
"On March 28, a teachers workshop will be conducted in the department of post graduate studies in commerce and research of our college. Alongside IQAC is organizing a UGC sponsored one day national level workshop on 'Inclusive practices- creating experiences to enhance teaching- learning'. Dr K Sankaran, director justice K S Hegde Institute of Management Nitte will be the chief guest. Professor Deepa Sethi, assistant professor, humanities and liberal arts, Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode and Professor Suraj Francis Noronha assistant professor school of management, Manipal University will be the guests of honour."
