Bengaluru, Mar 27: A person named Chandrashekhar Reddy (30) residing in Kamakshamma Layout near Yalahanka in the city was arrested by Yalahanka police on Thursday March 26, based on the allegation that he had raped a 25-year-old neighbour.
Reddy, who hails from Bagepalli, works in a shop engaged in sale of tiles. He has been residing in Kamakshamma Layout since the last three years. The woman resides in Reddy's neighbourhood with her husband and a six-year-old daughter. As her husband, who is a handloom weaver by profession, had gone to Andhra Pradesh in connection with this profession, the lady had asked a neighbour, Mangamma, to be with her for the night.
The lady said in her complaint that Chandrashekhar forcibly entered her house at around 12.30 am on Thursday, sent Mangamma out by threatening her, and then raped her.
It is said that on Tuesday afternoon, fight had broken out between Reddy and the lady's husband relating to some financial transaction. Reportedly, enmity arising out of this quarrel was the reason for the rape.
