Bengaluru, Mar 27: In a harrowing incident which occurred at fifth cross Hoysana Nagar in the city on Thursday March 26, a woman was strangled to death, while her 11-month-old child was killed by immersing it in a bucket of water.
Pallavi (27), and her 11-month-old daughter lost life in this grisly incident. On suspicion, Pallavi's husband, Balaji (30) was taken into custody by the police. The police said Balaji works in a private company in Jeevan Bima Nagar here, and lived in Hoysala Nagara with wife and baby daughter. The family had shifted residence to the present location just two months back.
On Thursday afternoon, killers who remain unidentified, rushed into the house, and strangled Pallavi to death. They then immersed the baby girl into a bucketful of water, causing her death.
The police have learnt that the couple fought frequently about the late night return of Balaji to his home. Thepolice suspect that Balaji would have killed his wife and daughter in a fit of anger, but Balaji has squarely denied his role in the tragedy.
Senior police officials said that according to Balaji, he received a phone call at 2 pm from a neighbour, who stated that there was something wrong in his house. The police however said that they have detained Balaji because of some of his statements which do not match with each other.
A case stands registered in Kamakshipalya police station. Additional police commissioner, Alok Kumar, visited the spot.
The family was preparing for the christening ceremony for the child on Saturday March 28. Pallavi's parents have complained that Balaji used to pester his wife for more dowry, and expressed the opinion that he had killed his wife and child.
