Udupi, Mar 25: The district Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde on Tuesday March 24 said that Suresh Shetty Gurme, who recently joined BJP, has submitted an appeal to high court on the Kaup Marigudi issue where animal sacrifice has been banned.
However, the high court did not take any decision and another hearing on the mattter will be done in the coming days.
Addressing a press meet here, Hegde said, "Udupi district administration, the state government and the Animal Welfare Board have taken decision in a hurry on animal sacrifice at Kaup Marigudi. The DC should respect the rituals and public sentiments. When suddenly the district administration enforces such an order, it causes unnecessary confusion," Thingale said.
Regarding the installation of toll gate he said, "By the end of May 15, 80% of the road construction from Hejamady to Kundapur under Navayuga project will be complete. The pipeline from Padur to Thokur which was supposed to be complete by March 2013, will be completed soon. District BJP will allow to installation of toll gate only after the completion of road construction work."
Speaking on the crude oil storage unit at Padur he said, "It goes through seven villages namely Padur, Kalattur, Belapu, Yellur, Santur and Inna. It comprises 16 acres of government land out of the total 98.50 acres of land. The remaining land is private."
Thingale condemned the way the land acquisition of KDP was done and said, "It was a very unscientific approach. The surveyors visited the private properties without intimation, so farmers are in a state of confusion. According to the Land Acquisition Act of 1961, government will provide 10% of compensation for 60 ft of land, so it would affect farmers."
Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde urged the authorities to clarify confusion among villagers.
Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, Veena Shetty, Kuthyar Naveen Shetty, Geethanjali Suvarna and others were present.
