M'luru: World tuberculosis day held at Global Hospital

Mangaluru, Mar 24: On the occasion of World TB day Naleen Kumar Kateel MP of DK inaugurated a free lung disease detection camp at Global Multispeciality Hospital, 3rd Cross Matadakani Road, Urwa in the city on Tuesday March 24.








Dr Sushil Jathanna, director, Global Multispeciality Hospital welcomed the gathering and said, "We are celebrating World Tuberculosis Day today at the hospital. Tuberculosis is a serious disease which has been affecting millions of people. 4500 people are affected every month. Every 3 seconds 1 person is diagnosed with tuberculosis."
 
Naleen Kumar Kateel addressing the gathering said, "In today's fast pace of life food habits of people have changed. This may be the main reason we are encountering different diseases. Though science has advanced a lot and new techniques have been innovated countering new diseases have been a challenge. Global Hospital has made a commendable attempt in helping the needy by organizing this camp. I request them to organize many more camps. Rural people are also attracted to western food which has resulted in different diseases. I request Global Hospital to conduct camps in rural areas too. I wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital, Dr H R Rajeshwari Devi said, "Previously few people were affected by tuberculosis. Now the number has drastically increased. This may be due to food habits and lifestyle of people. Global Hospital has been cooperating with us in cases of emergency. When beds have been full in Wenlock Hospital patients have been sent to Global Hospital. They have been charged nominal price and have been given the best service. I appreciate them for organizing this camp and wish them all the best in their future endeavors."

Dr Pradeep Narayan consultant pulmonologist and  Dr B S Rai, director Global Multispeciality Hospital were the others present.
