Mangaluru, Mar 20: Demanding fair and impartial probe into the death of honest IAS officer who died recenly in Bengaluru, the students from research and post graduation studies, held a protest rally at Mangala Gangothri campus here on Thursday Mar 19.
The rally procession was held from Mangala autitorium to the main entrance of the university campus.
"Who does the probe is not important at all.But how the probe is done is more imporantant. Opposition here feels that, CID under the influence of the government, may not deliver a fair probe. The state government feels that CBI probe will tarnish the image of the government, by doing a probe pointing out the finger at the government. But What the people from the state and the family of the deceased want is, a fair investigation.Presently the state government says that the officer committed suicide which is unlikely to have happened. He was a tough officer who had faced many hurdles in life." said Harish, a student addressing the crowd.
"I had met him in the month of March.I had gone to get some guidance from him on writing some higher competitive examination. He had ordered the admission of Dalits into all temples. He was mixing with all the people without showing that he was an IAS officer. He gave his advice to me very freely." Harish added.
"In the case of IAS officer Mahanthesh also, police came to the stage of harassing the officer by subjecting him to questions related to his integrity. They did not enquire the people who harassed him. If the authorities had handled the situation properly then, we would not have lost D K Ravi now . If we do not get justice, we will hold state-wide protests." warned Harish.
"We have lost an honest officer. The poor family needs justice now. All honest officers should be able to work without any fear or favour. Corruption should be rooted out completely" said Rachana, a student.
